Athelstan 1100 Festival

When: 19th - 27th July 2025 Where: Various locations, Tamworth Step back in time and celebrate the 1,100th anniversary of the coronation of Athelstan, the first King of England. This week-long festival in Tamworth is packed with activities, including a spectacular puppet parade, community archaeology digs, Saxon-era demonstrations at Tamworth Castle, and live art battles. It's a unique celebration of national history right where it happened.  

LIV Golf UK by JCB

When: 25th - 27th July 2025 Where: JCB Golf & Country Club, Rocester Experience the thrill of international golf as some of the world's top players descend on Rocester. Set against the stunning backdrop of the JCB Golf & Country Club, this prestigious tournament offers a chance to see sporting superstars in action. The event also features a Saturday post-round concert by superstar DJ Kygo, making it a premier destination for sports and entertainment fans.  

Viking Re-enactment at Stafford Castle

When: 2nd August 2025 Where: Stafford Castle, Stafford Prepare for an invasion! The grounds of Stafford Castle will host a spectacular Viking re-enactment weekend. Perfect for a family day out, you can explore a living history village, try your hand at archery, and watch the dramatic climax—a full-scale battle. It’s an immersive and action-packed journey into the Viking age, and entry is free for pedestrians and pushchairs (parking charges apply).  

The Big Feast

When: 22nd - 23rd August 2025 Where: City Centre (Hanley), Stoke-on-Trent Don't let the name fool you—this isn't a food festival. The Big Feast is a vibrant, free, two-day celebration of outdoor arts. The streets of Hanley will come alive with an eclectic mix of circus acts, street theatre, dance, and music from around the world. It’s a fantastic showcase of creativity and a guaranteed fun day out for all ages.  

Lichfield Festival

When: 8th - 20th July 2025 Where: Various venues, Lichfield One of the region's most prestigious arts festivals, the Lichfield Festival brings world-class talent to the historic cathedral city. The 2025 line-up includes music from Tony Hadley and The Unthanks, comedy from Mark Watson, and a new dance show from Strictly's Neil Jones. With events held in stunning venues like Lichfield Cathedral, it’s a cultural highlight of the summer.  

Summer at Alton Towers

When: July & August 2025 Where: Alton Towers Resort, Alton For adrenaline junkies and families, a trip to Alton Towers is a summer essential. While there isn't a specific summer-themed festival, the main event is the park itself, with over 40 rides and attractions. Experience the brand-new thrill ride, Toxicator, or enjoy the immersive world of CBeebies Land. It remains Britain's greatest escape for a reason. Rail Ale Trail

When: 18th - 20th July 2025 Where: Churnet Valley Railway, Froghall All aboard for a unique festival experience! Combine the charm of a heritage steam railway with a real ale festival.
