A very beautiful setting, very calm and peaceful. The cottage was well equipped and the games and laundry rooms very handy. The owners live on-site and were friendly and available, not at all intrusive or overbearing. It was a great find: we had a lovely stay and I'm sure we will be back.

This Airbnb was a really lovely stay and i am very grateful to Sam for being so kind and understanding. The property was comfortable, warm and exactly what I needed whilst travelling.

It was great that the dogs were able to stay with us, which made the visit feel much easier and more relaxed.

We had a lovely overnight stay. Beautiful surroundings and Hetty’s tea room next door was an added bonus.

beautiful stay, our family enjoying swimming in the lake and kayaking after two long days at Alton towers. it was lovely to hear birdsong and watch the swans on the lake.

This is truly lovely location with super hosts. Although we don’t use it as we only stayed 2 nights the outside kitchen is gorgeous. Lovely to have a tea room so close and we did a canal walk to the pub which was full of interesting things to see, we loved seeing the barges and wildlife.

decent little place stuggled to actually find it though

We have a wonderful trip, and these 3days are relax and enjoy
4.0/5
Well equipped cottage with comfy beds, warm shower and great location. Gorgeous grounds and nice extras for children such as a slide, trampoline, balance bikes and scooters. Easy check in and the owner on site was very friendly with a cute dog that our children loved. The only niggle was that the two sofas in the lounge were very hard, cold and uncomfortable… after a long day out and about, it was hard to relax in the lounge! Other than that we enjoyed the stay and we would return

we had a really relaxing stay in this peaceful farm stay. we were based on cottage 5 of six. it was clean and very warm with a cozy feel. well appointed but compact interior. this wasn't a problem for us as we had good weather and we were outdoors all the time. where the facilities were fabulous. kids enjoyed kayaking on the pond with the swans, games room and trampoline. lovely pub up the road, lots of walls amongst the forest alive with birdsong. we'll be back!

Great base for Alton Towers, and nice walks.
Positive: Good base for Alton Towers. Lovely setting, nice walks along the canal.
Negative: Very compact.

The space is lovely and in a beautiful area. Unfortunately though it was difficult to communicate with the host. I had raised some queries prior to my stay and they were ignored on the Airbnb chat with generic auto replies sent, so I called the company and spoke to them. The company informed me in writing that my dogs could be left unattended for brief periods to allow me to use the facilities such as the kayaking lake. However, when we arrived and I sensed the hosts were quite tense and unwelcoming (e.g. unclear parking instructions and lack of responsiveness, then cold responses), I asked the hosts about this directly. They informed me the dogs could not be left even if we were directly outside using the lake, which of course meant it was impossible to use the kayaks or games room and so we left. We also felt uncomfortable because when we arrived another guest told us the police had been called and they had to leave, and the general vibe was hostile.

We stayed at the property as this was close to where we were working, this property is a lovely setting, very clean and tidy and makes you feel at home. There is everything you will need for your stay whether it is for work, a family stay or for couples. It is very peaceful and the views are stunning, the owners are very helpful and nice to meet, overall I would definitely return even if its just for a weekend away from city life.

Thanks.

The most blissful get away, wish we had booked for longer. The grounds were amazing, our host could not have been more accommodating to give us advice on walks, best local Sunday lunch venues and setting up the outdoor fire pit area for us. Truly magical - thank you.

Beautiful place, magnificent scenery right outside the house, which was the main reason we chose to stay here and the views didn’t disappoint! The house was really nice and well maintained too! Hosts were really good, responsive, and check in and check out were really simple and hassle free!

A wonerful location, very peaceful.
The steam railway is just a few minutes walk away. It's next to the canal, and plenty more walks. Hetty's tea shop is just across the road.
The facilities on site are great, we spent time just reading by the lake with just the ducks, swans and dragonflies for company.
5.0/5
This place was a lovely stay – we felt right at home straight away! We’d definitely recommend it to friends and plan on coming back. The only downside was that we were told we couldn’t bring our paddle boards to use on the lake, but during our stay we saw other guests using their own paddle boards. Aside from that, everything else was fantastic.

Thanks so much. We had a beautiful stay with the family staying in another of the cottages. It’s an absolutely idyllic location. We’ll be back!

A beautiful peaceful oasis, felt like we were deep in the countryside, but in reality only just off the A52.

If you want a place to relax, enjoy nature with some picturesque canal walks, this is for you.

Wisteria, had everything as listed, cosy accommodation, for 4 people.

Our stay at Foxtwood Cottages was excellent. Relaxing and friendly from the moment we arrived.

The owners are really lovely and went out of their way to help us.

The surroundings are beautiful and there is so much to do there we didn’t use the car during our stay.

We wanted to have a short holiday at short distance from Derby and found this place near Stoke. The location is beautiful and remote as I wanted. The place is surrounded by natural habitat. The communication was excellent and i was always informed of any queries. There are beautiful walks and outdoors have games to enjoy. The canal path is superb. The basic amenities are all provided - towels, cutlery etc. Has EV charger as well. Excellent place in summary
