About this space
Angel Cottage is a charming stone-built house in the beautiful village of Alton, just five minutes from Alton Towers!

This stylishly renovated cottage has four bedrooms, newly-installed kitchen & bathrooms and an enclosed garden backed by trees. With wide-screen TV, Wifi and on-street parking it’s a great place to relax after a day’s adventures.

The space
Angel Cottage is a period stone property with feature windows and wooden blinds, beautifully renovated to retain its character. With four comfortable bedrooms there’s space for up to 10 guests, making it ideal for families and groups of friends.

The property is in a quiet village area and therefore we ask that there isn’t any loud noise after 9pm. We have noise monitoring devices in place to help ensure that guests and neighbours have a positive experience.

The spacious living room has a 55 inch 4K Samsung TV, stone flooring and comfortable seating which converts into a double sofa bed. There’s a small pool table, books and board games, making this a great space to relax and unwind.

The airy newly-installed kitchen has high-spec Bosch appliances (double oven, hob and dishwasher) and a large freestanding fridge. It leads into the conservatory dining area with generous seating around a large farmer’s table.

The conservatory opens onto a spacious balcony with raised decking and a relaxing woodland view. From here a staircase leads to the enclosed garden. Beyond the garden gate is a private footpath which is only for fire exit purposes.

The master bedroom and second bedroom have double beds, the third a small double and the fourth has bunk beds. There are two new and stylish downstairs bathrooms, one with a bath and shower and the second with a full size walk-in shower.

Guest access
Feel free to park anywhere that doesn't block neighbours’ access. If you bring more than two cars please park further up the street. The village is quiet and friendly so if you see anyone please say hello!

Positive: The presurre in shower powerful, amazing after a day at Alton Towers. Location fantastic for theme park, easy to find accommodation.
Negative: Limited resources in the village, so do shopping before arrival.

Our stay was amazing! A great space for friends with lots of bedrooms (with double beds), 2 showers, big sofas and a big dining room to have chats and food in! It was under 10 minutes drive to Alton Towers and was super easy to find!

Cute cottage and excellent location for visiting Alton Towers. Host is very responsive and helpful. Upon checking out we had an issue and they are handling it with due care.

The only downside was the unwelcoming neighbours. Gave us bad looks on arrival. On the last night we were eating dinner in the conservatory, talking and laughing, and the neighbours frightened the kids (and the adults!) by banging the back door with a broomstick, rather than coming to the front door. At this point we had not received any messages from the host telling us that the sound detectors had been triggered.

We had a lovely stay and would 100% recommend if you are looking for somewhere near Alton Towers if that’s where you are heading. It was clean and ideal for a couple nights stay. The hosts were very responsive and replied quickly if we did have any questions.

Wonderful location for visiting Alton Towers. Really was so nice to be a 4 minute drive away and get in before the rides opened.

House was great for our needs, lots of bedrooms and two bathrooms. Not somewhere we might spend a lot of time, but great for a night or two.

Good stay
Perfect for Alton towers visit
5.0/5
The house was beautiful, homely & also very clean. It worked extremely well for me & my 4 children. 2 bathrooms helped, lots of space in the front room for the kids, dining table was perfect. There were lots of little extras that helped like black sacks, hoover, dishwasher tabs etc etc which if you have kids you are going to need these regardless if your on a holiday or not! I found everything extremely easy, from check in to knowing where things were located. I would highly recommend staying here!

We had a lovely stay at this property. The location was fantastic, especially for visiting Alton Towers, and it was within walking distance to some nice places to eat and drink. There were good communal spaces both inside and outside the property, and the large TV and well-equipped facilities were appreciated.

A few things to note: the keypad for entry was a bit difficult to operate, and the instructions could have been more in depth. The listing’s photos and description show a small pool table at the property, this was missing and we had to clarify with hosts over message that this was not available. The beds are on the smaller side and one of the bedroom doors does not close fully. Overall, the property was clean but some items, such as cutlery and kitchen appliances, could have been cleaner.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Beautiful area, very easy to navigate and get to. The stay was made very enjoyable by the great communication and clear instructions for check in and out. Would definitely recommend and stay again!!

The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with all the amenities we needed. Communication was clear, and the check-in process was easy. The location was convenient for exploring the area, and the apartment provided a relaxing place to return to after a day out.

Not comfortable
Positive: Location and the outside space
Negative: Uncomfortable beds, creaky floors, loud plumbing and lack of bedding in the states places causing difficulty late at night.
5.0/5
Lovely place friendly locals dog walk nearby, only down side is that we didn’t read the noise rules when booking (our own fault). We couldn’t play music and enjoy the garden to celebrate my birthday. This said we totally understand the rule given the surroundings.

Lovely cottage close to Alton Towers, perfect for a family
Positive: We rented the property for one night before going to Alton Towers the next day. This was a brilliant location. the village was pretty and there is a local shop nearby open until late.
The property was lovely and had lots of room for a party of 8.
The drive on the front had lots of room for 2 cars (one was a 7 seater)
Both bathrooms were on the ground floor, one from the living room and one off the conservatory.
The kitchen is well equipped and had everything needed, including milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar. The biscuits and sweets were a nice touch too.
The four bedrooms have comfy beds and there were plenty of towels too.
Having read other reviews, were a bit conscious of having the sound sensor when we arrived but we did not trigger at all during the stay.
Negative: None of the concerns below retracted from the lovely stay we had at Angel Cottage,
We had 8 people stay, one more dining chair would have been good on the other end of the table for more comfort.
The floor boards upstairs are very creaky.
The steps to the back garden could do with having painted contrast steps as my sister who has monovision really struggled with these.
The bunk bed room could do with black out curtains / blinds in it

Great place to stay while vistiing Alton Towers. Clean and comfortable. Very responsive host.

We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property. The location couldn’t have been better – just a mile from Alton Towers, making it incredibly easy to pop back and forth throughout our trip.

The village itself is beautiful, with charming buildings, stunning scenery, and plenty of local character. It was lovely to explore and added so much to our stay.

The house was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. It was comfortable, welcoming, and very accommodating for our family.

The hosts were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for us. We accidentally left our cot bed behind, and they kindly arranged for us to collect it after our final day at Alton Towers. Not only did they place it outside ready for collection, but they also put it in a black bag to protect it from the rain. Such a thoughtful gesture and greatly appreciated.

Thank you for a wonderful stay – we would happily return in the future!

We stayed at the cottage following a day at Alton Towers. The cottage is a few minutes drive from the gates of Alton Towers, perfectly located in the village of Alton with shops and pubs nearby. The cottage has plenty of room, a lovely dining area in the conservatory. Very clean and feels homely. Highly recommended for families visiting Alton towers and the Peak District close by.

Pleasant
Positive: The property was in a great location for a trip to Alton Towers which was a five minute drive away.
Negative: The property wasn’t really clean as we were constantly lint rolling our clothes because of animal hair everywhere. I understand pets are welcome but if you have new people coming into the property each time it should be cleaned thoroughly each time.

Lovely stay
Positive: Super convenient for alton towers, double drive way to front. Lovely pub nearby.
Had everything we needed, loved the small touches such as oil for cooking and body wash for shower, all well thought out.
Host was fantastic at answering any questions prior to stay
Negative: Nothing

Beautiful house that was very well equipped and some lovely little treats were left for us on our arrival which was a nice touch.
House was perfect for 6 adults and 3 children and super close to Alton towers and was lovely and clean. Local pubs served lovely food and instructions were clear and given in advance of arrival. Beds were a little small but did the job.
Only downside were the unwelcoming neighbours who tutted at the children when we first arrived and the noise detectors in the conservatory ruined it a little when we were playing board games. Just laughing caused us to get a message saying we were too loud.

The host was friendly, responsive and accommodating - it was the perfect stay and such a great space! The Airbnb itself was a great size, location, clean and had all the amenities you could want. Would highly recommend booking to stay here!

Great location for Alton towers.
Keypad keyless entry which worked well for check in with clear instructions.
Milk and biscuits as well as everything you need for cooking (well appointed kitchen with plenty of pans etc).
We did have a problem with the key pad on day 2 and could t get in so had to use the back door key which isn’t easy to get to round the back of the house but we advised the owner who stated that this would be addressed so hopefully future bookers won’t have this problem.
All in all, great location, well appointed and clean.
5.0/5
The house was clean, tidy and warm on arrival. Us 3 solo mums appreciated the gin ready bag of ice in the freezer - great touch!
The whole place was clean and well stocked with toiletries. The linen was clean and cosy. Nice extras like a baby gate, children's crockery etc very welcome.
The couple of tiny issues we had during our stay were responded to in a really timely and friendly manner, which is all you can ask for really.
We visited Sudbury Childhood museum, the local park and Didcote Estate during our stay (not Alton Towers!). We ate at the Talbot which was fine for families with kids (bit of a walk on the busy, narrow path), recommend booking ahead for any of the local pubs.
Thanks so much to Travel Fox, the owners and the cleaner!

Moments away from Alton Towers
Positive: Convenient to alton towers
5.0/5
We had a lovely stay at this place – just a five-minute drive from Alton Towers and very close to the Peak District National Park. The rooms were super cozy, and the host really went above and beyond, taking care of every little detail: dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, fresh milk, and other small essentials. It made such a difference! Parking for two cars was also a great bonus.

The area itself is beautiful with lovely scenery. Highly recommend for a comfortable, hassle‑free stay near Alton Towers!

Really lovely place to stay. We have stayed twice as a group of 2 families and have had a lovely time both stays. We have been visiting Alton Towers and it is super convenient for that but I also went for runs in the evenings and took the kids to the park so very well situated. The house itself is very well presented and this time had lovely Easter decorations and milk in the fridge and a few handy goodies. Thank you to the Travel Fox for another lovely stay!

Great stay in a great location. Arrived slightly early while cleaners were still there, and they were very helpful. They allowed us to park on the drive even though the accommodation wasn’t quite ready, and also pointed us in the right direction to get some food.
5.0/5
This property was great for a friendship gathering, with the conservatory and large dining table being a key positive for meals, games and socialising. It was warm, cozy and comfortable. The double driveway and space for a third car on the street was great.

The town of Alton is quiet, peaceful and picturesque. There’s a friendly pub a short walk away, and plenty of longer walks and shops/amenities within a short drive.

Just a couple of things to note … albeit they haven’t affected my review scoring as overall the property was great:

The bathrooms are both downstairs and one has a frosted glass door that halts some privacy - something to bear in mind!

The upstairs floor is uneven and creaky - guess its charm of a cottage, but again with noting!
5.0/5
Lovely house, lovely area, really clear instructions with really thoughtful hosts. They helped us getting into the property and even bought over an extension lead for us when we were trying to sort out something in the conservatory. Some lovely places to eat in the local area. Would stay here again if we were looking for something in the area
5.0/5
Lovely home with enough space for two families or a large family. Location worked perfectly for our plan to do some Peak District walks with the kids. We all enjoyed the space, thank you for the hospitality.

5.0/5
This place was perfect for a night in with family and friends..very spacious and provided with many amenities! If you are coming as a big group, be careful with noise levels as there are volume monitors. I would also say do not park forward when you arrive as you may struggle to reverse back out as we got stuck leaving as the property is at the bottom of a steep slope. Overall, very good experience we had a great time :)
4.0/5
A good price for the number of very comfy beds, showers with bountiful hot water & pressure, & good kitchen amenities. Alton is a pretty, interesting village near to wonderful landscapes, & we had lovely evenings in The Bull's Head pub round the corner.
On the first evening, the digital lock broke and we found ourselves locked out on a winter night. We got straight through to someone on the phone to sort it out but he gave us the wrong info & sent us on an hour-long wild goose chase hunting everywhere for hidden keys, & so sending us right into a historic feud with a neighbour who was angry that we walked past his garden but who really just resented the village being bought up for holiday lets. He was seriously salty, but we did sympathise. Thankfully another, v nice neighbour fixed the lock the next day so no real harm done. - Maybe the moral is anyone renting in a tourist village should at least do their best to support the place: use the pubs, spend a bit of money if you can.

We all loved our stay at Angel Cottage .
A beautiful spacious warm space with everything we needed.
A little difficult for our two elderly dogs to navigate the decking steps to the garden .
The village is so pretty with great pubs and country walks .
We would definitely return
